IT Emergency

Suspect an attack, malware, a data leak or an outage? Report it immediately, even if in doubt.

Report: IT Emergency Number

To be filled in by hand

Say What You Know

  • Who is reporting? Name and callback number
  • Which device or system is affected, and where is it?
  • What did you last do, and what did you notice? On-screen messages, unusual behavior
  • Since when? Time as precisely as possible

Until IT Takes Over

  • Stop working on the affected device.
  • Note your observations with the time.
  • Do not delete, restart or repair anything on your own. Take further steps only when instructed.

As of – · Template: TOMORIS Toolbox, based on the BSI IT emergency card “Behavior in IT emergencies”. Review the details regularly.

WHAT BELONGS ON THE CARD

Three Steps,
One Number.

The card follows the three messages of the BSI card: know your contacts, report immediately with the key details, take action only when instructed.

  1. 01

    Report

The IT emergency number appears large at the top, together with its availability. Call even if in doubt.

  2. 02

    Say What You Know

Who is reporting, which device, what was observed, since when. IT needs these details first.

  3. 03

    Wait and Take Notes

Stop working on the device, note observations with the time, and do not delete or repair anything on your own.

QUESTIONS

Good to Know.

Are my details stored?

No. Names and numbers stay in this browser window: the page neither sends them nor stores them on your device. They are gone when you close it, so print the card right away or save it as a PDF.

How do I save the card as a PDF?

Click “Print or Save as PDF” and choose “Save as PDF” or “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the printer in the print dialog. Only the card is printed, in light colors even in dark mode, on one A4 page.

Why not use the BSI card directly?

The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) offers the IT emergency card “Behavior in IT emergencies”, which is a good choice. It has a field for your emergency number; according to its terms of use it may not be edited beyond those fields or used commercially. This card follows the same principles in our own words and adds several contacts and Austrian bodies such as CERT.at.

Where should I put up the card?

The BSI recommends hallways, offices, workshops and IT workstations: wherever employees should find the information in an IT emergency.

What does the emergency card have to do with NIS2?

Among their risk management measures, essential and important entities must address incident handling and business continuity, including crisis management (Section 32(4)(b) and (c) NISG 2026). An emergency card is one small building block of this, not proof of compliance.

How current do the details need to be?

As current as possible: a wrong number costs the most important minutes in an emergency. The date on the card shows when it was last checked; replace the card whenever a contact changes.

We assess findings, prioritize by risk and put changes into practice on request: as a project with EXPERTS or as ongoing operations with GRID.
